FAQ

Here are some of our most Frequently Asked Questions and their answers:

Why don't you have Super Value Cars listed for 2009?

The Super Value Car formula applies to used cars that have had time to depreciate. After Consumer Reports® releases their April car issue every year, the data regarding depreciation must be calculated and the new Super Value Car list for the previous model year created. The new Super Value Car listings for the 2009 Model Year should be added sometime in September, 2010. So keep checking back. In the meantime, there are literally hundreds of Super Value Cars for sale on this site every day, so take a look at them now.

Why do you link to eBay Motors?

eBay Motors is one of the largest collections of used cars on the web. To make it as easy as possible for our visitors to research prices on Super Value Cars, we link directly to this large and vibrant marketplace. We also provide links for each Super Value Car to research pages on Edmunds.com and Kelly Blue Book (kbb.com), two of the leading pricing and research sites on the web.

Some of the cars listed don't seem to be a "Super Value" to me. Why is that?

Super Value Cars shows you the Top 20 cars in every model year (since 2003) for highest average depreciation (as a percentage of MSRP). The individual sellers listing their cars may simply be asking for more money than the car is worth, or there may be buyers who want the car badly enough that they are willing to bid the price up over the average depreciation shown here. The beauty of a large and vibrant marketplace like eBay Motors is that there will always be more cars for sale tomorrow. If you can't find a car you want for a price you like today, check back again tomorrow.

Why do I sometimes see the phrase "No items matching your keywords were found" beneath a car's name?

Although eBay Motors is one of the largest on-line automotive marketplaces in the world, they don't have every model from every year for sale at every moment. When you click on a Model Year, you are gathering the most up-to-the-minute listings from eBay Motors for each of the ten cars on that particular page. Availability of particular models and model years changes every day, so keep coming back and checking and soon you may find the perfect Super Value Car for you.

Why don't you link to other internet sites listing these used cars?

We are looking into ways to collect as many listings for each Super Value Car model as possible. As we figure out ways to pull listings from other sources, we will be updating the site.

Why do listings sometimes include cars other than the one intended?

Sometimes a car dealer will include all the models they sell or other keywords in their ads that confuse our searches. We are working hard to reduce the number of times this happens. Until then, please ignore listings for any vehicles that don't match the Super Value Car you are interested in and accept our apology for any confusion.

Why don't you include [Feature A] or [Feature B] in your site?

Let us know what you'd like to see by Contacting Us and we'll see if we can improve the site by incorporating your ideas.

How does this site make money?

If a user clicks through a link on the Super Value Cars site and subsequently purchases a car from eBay Motors, eBay pays us a commission for making that transaction possible.

Do you offer some warranty or guarantee on these cars or this information?

No. We are simply trying to make it easier for people to find used cars that are Super Values. Please see our Terms of Service for detailed disclaimers.
